Worldview International Foundation (WIF) had an ambitious goal: to restore coastal ecosystems by planting millions of mangrove trees while creating sustainable economic opportunities for local communities. However, to scale their impact, they needed a strategy that would transition them from a donation-based NGO to a financially sustainable model within the voluntary carbon market. With mangroves’ exceptional ability to sequester carbon, WIF’s work had immense potential. However, securing long-term funding required a robust investment structure, certification of carbon credits, and trust-building with global partners. TAKT was brought in to develop a scalable approach that would enable WIF to attract investors, streamline operations, and establish a strong digital presence.
From the early stages of strategy development, TAKT worked closely with WIF to ensure the project’s quality, scalability, and long-term viability. The key initiatives included: Carbon Credit Certification: Led the process of verifying mangrove carbon credits through VERRA, unlocking revenue streams for sustainable expansion. Investment & Financial Structuring: Secured investors and established a 50/50 revenue-sharing model over 10 years, ensuring upfront payments covered all planting costs. Digital Workflow & Efficiency: Developed a structured framework for digital collaboration, improving coordination between WIF’s teams in Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, the USA, and Panama. Brand, Website & Communication Strategy: Designed and managed WIF’s website, social media channels, and news updates to build trust with partners, clients, and investors. Corporate Partnerships: Facilitated agreements with global brands such as Peet’s Coffee, Rockwool, Microsoft, Starbucks, Siam Group, and SailGP, helping them invest in high-impact carbon credits. By leveraging these strategic, financial, and digital tools, WIF successfully transitioned into a scalable, self-sustaining organization that continues to grow, despite global challenges.
The results have been transformational: 120+ million mangrove trees planted, creating a carbon sink for 50 million metric tons of CO₂. Transitioned from a donation-based NGO to the world’s largest mangrove restoration project, backed by the voluntary carbon market. Secured millions in investment through structured agreements, ensuring long-term financial sustainability. Built a trusted brand that accelerated validation processes with investors, partners, and clients. Strengthened local economies by creating jobs and income opportunities in the regions where mangroves are planted. This project has been a deeply rewarding learning experience, providing insights into climate challenges, sustainable business models, and scalable impact strategies. We take pride in having played a role in expanding a project that is restoring ecosystems, empowering communities, and driving real climate action.
